Behavior Basics: Navigating World of Behavior with Your Child Presented By: Sabrina Mitchell, Ph.D., BCBA

This parent session will focus on basic principles of behavior and how those principles apply to your son or daughter. As a group, we will review environmental factors that impact behavior and the typical “functions” or “pay offs” of behavior.

We will then explore how if we know the “pay off” for the child, we can manipulate factors to make it more likely the child will use appropriate behaviors than inappropriate ones. Specifically we will look at things that happen before a behavior and after a behavior and how those factors influence what our child does.

Within this framework, some effective strategies with individuals with autism will be shared. There will also be some time for you to problem solve your own situations with other parents and the presenter in a structured activity.

Date: Monday October 29 Time: 6:30 p.m. Cost: FREE *Childcare is not available. Please do not bring children/students to this event. *Space is limited.
